NYPMSN Handover Ceremony

Salaamu'alaik blessful Brothers and Sisters,

On 12th May 2013, we had our annual NYPMSN Handover Ceremony at Masjid al-Muttaqin.

Handover ceremoney is a ceremony where the current excos members will be stepping down and new Excos will take over their responsibility.

During the handover, our alumni, kak Fatin, NYPMSN President 2011/2012 recited a poem for us:

Assalamualaikum peace be upon all of you,

Today marks an inaugural moment for the batch that is due,

From the batches of Hairudin, Remy, Firdaus and Syaheer,

Azhar, Shahrum, myself and Syaakir,
We would like to pass the baton to our bro Faris,
To continue this,
This incredible journey together.
As we move on to a greater chapter.
Using creative mediums to touch hearts and outreach,
And internalise the Quran and hadeeth,
to have and to hold from this day forward,
for better for worse, for richer for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love, cherish, and to obey.
Now this is not a marriage vow,
Nor a romanticised message for now,
But we seek and implore bro Faris and co,
To give their best, focus and go.

Now I wish to share with you a brilliant example,
Of how we hope you lead as a sample,
The leadership of Umar ibn Khattab the second caliph,
Who emphasized reading the Quran and not just letters Ta, Ba and Alif.
He said “Keep holding yourself to account before you are held to account,
For self-examination will render your accounting easy. “
Consistently having muhasabah diri (self-reflection),
Improving yourself while inviting others to be followers and not flee.
Cos you see,
Putting things into perspective,
As this is viewed in retrospective,
There are many ways for NYPMSN to be effective.
During Umar’s caliphate, Egypt, Iraq, Palestine, Persia and Syria,
Of over 2 million square miles as its total area,
He had various people of differing faiths under his care.
Now NYP is made up of blocks A to S, and NYPMSN serves everyone in campus,
They have many roles to play including being students, sons or daughters.
Caliph Umar had much consideration to others,
Including not allowing his army personnels to leave home for too long and leave their family members
This then translates to this essence,
That NYPMSN serves to be active living reminders to play their many roles in excellence.
To be in NYPMSN is a journey with Allah, yourself and others,
While following the prophet (saw), respecting your mothers, fathers and teachers.
We hope you never lose your steam,
in spreading the way of our deen.

Finders keepers, losers weepers,
We found one another but we won’t lose one another,
as we continue seeking His pleasure together,
For we will meet again in the hereafter,
Souls reunited in the Paradise insyaAllah.
Bittaufiq Wannajah,
Wassalamualaikum warahmatullah.

Also, Thanks bro Syaakir and kak Fadilah for their short motivational speech and for organizing this handover. Special thanks to the alumni of NYPMSN and  for those who came. May Allah reward all of you. May Allah ease our affair in upholding this responsibility as NYPMSN Exco. Your support and do'a that we need most. Allahumma la sahla illa ma-ja'altahu sahla, wa 'anta taj-alul huzna, 'iin shi'ta sahla :) Aaamin Ya Rabbal 'alamiin.
